Your Data

Find your app's data, understand what Lawn keeps, and plan a separate backup.

Finding your data

Your hosted apps and their saved data live on your Mac. Open an installed app's detail view and click Show in Finder to reveal its data folder. For interpreting the storage size shown there and in Finder, see Viewing Installed Apps.

Stopping an app or quitting Lawn keeps its saved data. Reinstalling an app through Recovery Options also keeps its data and settings. Deleting an app permanently deletes its data and snapshots. Removing the Lawn application itself leaves that data on your Mac.

Snapshots and backups

Snapshots save an app's files, version, and configuration so you can return to an earlier state. They stay on the same Mac as the app and do not protect against disk failure, loss, or theft. Keep an independent backup elsewhere for those risks.

Backing up your data

Lawn does not have built-in backup or full-Lawn export and restore support. A copy of a running app's data folder is not a verified backup; it may contain database files that are changing while you copy them.

Use the hosted app's own backup or export feature when it offers one, following that app's documentation. For example, Mealie provides Settings > Admin Settings > Backups to create and download a backup. Follow Mealie's backup and restore guide for its requirements and restore steps.

Keep downloaded backups or exports on a separate drive or another backup destination away from this Mac. Check what the app includes and how to restore it before relying on the export.

Moving to another Mac

Lawn does not provide a full-Lawn migration workflow. Where a hosted app supports export and import, install that app on the other Mac and follow its own instructions to transfer the exported data.
