Settings

General

Choose how Lawn starts, manages updates, and handles setup hints and usage analytics.

General settings

Open Settings > General.

Startup

Enable Open at Login to start Lawn when you log in to your Mac.

Enable Launch in the background to start Lawn without opening its window. Click the Lawn icon in the menu bar to open it.

Prevent Sleep is enabled by default. It prevents idle sleep while at least one app is running and your Mac is on AC power, and pauses on battery power. It does not override lid closure or forced sleep. You can also change this setting from the CLI.

App updates

Keeping update Snapshots

In Keep update Snapshots, choose how long to keep the Snapshots Lawn takes before app updates. Snapshots you take yourself stay until you delete them.

ChoiceHow long Snapshots are kept
Until the app is healthyCan be deleted once the updated app is healthy
For 30 daysThe default. Kept for at least 30 days, then deleted when the app is healthy
IndefinitelyKept until you delete them

Shortening retention can delete existing update Snapshots. Review the affected apps and Snapshot counts before confirming.

See Snapshots to take or restore a Snapshot, or manage retention from the CLI.

Updates

Automatic Updates controls whether Lawn automatically checks for new versions of Lawn itself.

Apps

Show setup hints displays hints when you first open a newly installed app.

Privacy

Turn Send anonymous usage data on or off to choose whether Lawn sends usage statistics. See the Privacy Policy for what these statistics include.
