Lawn v0.5.0

App snapshots & customizable sidebar

Save and restore app snapshots, clone an app from its history, and give installed apps custom names and icons. This release also improves catalog handling and recovery from app failures.

New Features

  • App snapshots: Restore an app to an earlier point in time, or create a separate copy from a snapshot.
  • Sidebar customization: Rename installed apps and choose an icon and color, or import your own image.
  • Editable catalogs: Work on catalog templates in a local directory and try your changes directly in Lawn.

Improvements

  • Add catalogs using common repository addresses, including owner/repository shorthand for GitHub.
  • Lawn now tells you when a catalog app requires a newer Lawn version before you install it.
  • App memory usage now shows the configured limit alongside current usage.
  • Lawn reconnects to surviving app processes after a background service restart and retries starting apps that need recovery.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed repeated Local Network permission prompts from background processes in Lawn.
  • Startup failures now bring the error window forward, including when Lawn starts in menu bar mode, and let you quit.
  • Fixed catalog additions getting stuck when download progress updates arrived rapidly.
  • Lots of other bugfixes.
